Beginner’s skincare routine
For most people skin care routine entails the basic steps, cleanse, moisturize and applying sunscreen.
Some even skip the sunscreen part and just stick to cleansing and moisturizing. It might be working for some. Do you know though, how much you could improve your skin texture by just following this simple beginner’s skincare routine.
Someone might be wondering what I mean by skin care.
The tutelarity that you give to your skin is what we call a skin care routine. So, beginner’s skincare routine?
One may ask why they should care much about skin care. Your skin is your largest organ and hence if you fail to take care of this organ, you can just imagine the damage to it in the long run. Good skin is not only necessary for the extra glow, no. An effective routine can help treat a lot of problems for you, such as wrinkles, acne and unhealthy looking skin in general. Healthy looking skin is not only good for your confidence but for your health too.
Before you begin on an a routine, you should know that what works for your friend won’t necessarily mean it will work for you. Figure out your skin type. If you have any underlying skin issues, fix those first. You might have an oily type of skin, which means your routine must be one that will help fix that. Knowing your skin type is essential. It will help you pick up the right products for your routine too. Dry, sensitive and oily skin require different products with a mixture of different ingredients.
So, the beginner’s skin care routine!
The very first step is cleansing.
Cleansing

We wash everyday. This is the very first step to any routine,be it facial or full body. All else comes after getting clean. Do not apply anything on your skin before getting it clean first. Find a cleanser that suits you best. When buying a cleanser, it’s important to find one that will clean your skin without stripping it of it’s essential oils.

For your body, use a cleanser meant specifically for washing your body. Your face wash can’t ever be your body wash.
Exfoliating
This is step 2. Do take it easy on this one though. Recently taught a friend on exfoliating and was disappointed to see her body covered with lines of overly scrubbing. Exfoliating shouldn’t be torturous. It also shouldn’t be done everyday. Twice a week on your body is enough. We exfoliate in order to remove dead skin cells. If you never exfoliate you will notice that your skin is also not as smooth as it should be. Smooth skin is not in DNA. Once you begin on a routine know that patience is key. There is no such thing as an instant fix. Add a sugar scrub into your routine twice a week and you will notice a great change over time.
Shaving
Step 3 is shaving.
If you want to achieve a smooth and painless shave then cleanse and exfoliate first. Water opens up your pores and smoothens your skin. This will make shaving a whole lot easier. Use a shaving cream always. Shave in the direction of your hair, do not go against it. This is to avoid cuts and ingrown hairs once your hair starts growing back.

Moisturize
Moisturizing after the first 3 steps is a great way of ensuring that your skin is well hydrated, after all the cleansing, exfoliating and shaving. Pick a moisturizer of your choice, that works well for you. It’s okay to change moisturizers throughout the year. Some people use a certain moisturizer in summer, another in winter and so on. Ensure that you moisturize while you are still wet from the shower and not completely dry.
Lastly
Apply Sunscreen
Most people think that sunscreen is for use in summer when the sun is all hot and scorching. That’s not true. Sunscreen should be a daily part of your routine.
It protects your skin from uv rays and premature aging of the skin. Yep!!!
You read that right. That should be motivation enough for everybody.
Sunscreen lowers your risk of skin cancer too. It doesn’t matter your skin colour, sunscreen is a must. Ever noticed that uneven skin tone especially on areas that are usually exposed to the sun.
The solution is sunscreen. Add it to your daily routine.
Look good and feel good. Remember consistency is the key. Once you begin on a routine with certain products, don’t give up too soon. Give it time just be consistent and you will be happiest.
