The art of bathing!

Let’s talk about the art of bathing.
Bathing is about much more than simply trying to get cleaned up. It can be your special go to place, for relaxing, feeling good, releasing some anxiety, self improvement and so much more. Such an experience should be treated with the utmost importance. It should be something you value so much that you even invest in it.

Most people treat bathing as a necessary means to keeping the dirt off, missing the beautiful side of it. Bathing not only cleanses your body, but it can help clear your mind too. It can be used as a means to relax, de-stress, relieve pain in the body and also heal different skin conditions. Mastering the art of bathing is the best form of self care you can ever give to yourself. The attention you give to your body is the best love you can ever receive.

Perfect timing and perfect environment

This is essential. Oftentimes, life keeps us busy, stressed, tired and all sorts of exhausting things. You feel the need to relax, unwind and let go once or twice a week.
Set aside a perfect day, where no one is allowed to bother you. I prefer the evenings, after a long day at work or home (both environments can be quite exhausting). Sometimes you get so exhausted that even after some hours sleep, you still wake up feeling drained and demotivated. That’s happening because you are not giving your body, mind and soul the full attention they deserve. A well pampered bath in the evening can help release tension and exhaustion from your body and mind. It will help you sleep much better and you will wake up feeling refreshed, recharged and ready to tackle your new day challenges.

Prepare your environment. Clear your evening of all chores and anything that might disturb your moment. Light candles, dim the lights, bring in a bottle of your favourite wine and place whatever makes the atmosphere the perfect environment for your bath. You can read a book while you are at it, if you are a reader. I’m in a long distance relationship, these baths are usually the perfect time to call my man and talk myself away.

Bath Salts

Adding bath salts to your bath is the perfect way to moisturize your skin, de-stress, soothe muscle pain and sleep better. Magnesium and potassium found in sea salt and epsom salt can be drawn into the bloodstream during a warm bath to eliminate toxins and balance the entire body. Self care right?
Art is about variety.
Once you master the art of bathing, you will realize that it is not only body healing, but it heals your mind and soul too. Not only is salt great for dry, itchy skin and acne, but research also found that the baking soda in salt soaks may be useful as an antifungal agent for skin and nails.
Buy yourself some bath salts to experience this luxurious healing. They come in all sorts of colours, shapes and scents.

If you can’t afford scented bath salts, use normal unscented coarse salt. It’s not expensive to buy and it still works the same way minus the scent, colours and few things.

Bubble bath

What’s a bath without bubbles?
Taking a long relaxing soak in a tub sounds particularly great, especially after a long and stressful day. Adding bubble bath to your bath is not only good for cleansing you up, relaxing some nerves and making you smell fresh. It’s also a great way to make oneself feel pampered. A warm bath with bubble bath will help brighten your mood too. The beautiful scent of your chosen bubble bath will also help you sleep better.

Bath Oils

Bath oils are scented oils that we add to the water we use for bathing. These fragrant oils not only give you a spa-like bath experience, but they are also very therapeutic in nature. Apply the oil blend onto your skin before getting into the bath, this allows the oils to penetrate your skin and be absorbed for maximum benefits. Bath oils also provide the best aromatherapy you will come across.
